BACKGROUND

        Ifedayo Local Government was created in 1991 out of the old Ila Local Government. The Local Government area covers about 200 Square Kilometres in landmass. It lies in the North-East (N.E) part of Osun State and shares boundaries with Kwara and Ekiti States to the North and Ila Local Government to the Southern part, respectively.
The towns and villages that make-up the Local Government Area include, Oke-Ila-Orangun (the headquarters) Ora-Igbomina, Oyi-Ayegunle, Oyi-Adio, Oyi-Obasinkin, Temidire, Ayetoro, Isinmi-Olootu, Idi-Odan, Aba Lagemo, Oyi-adunni, Ilupeju amongst others.

It is important to state that the indigenous language of the inhabitants is “Igbomina” a dialect of the Yoruba language. The people of Ifedayo have a rich culture that is worthy of emulation. Infact, their respect for elders and other cultural teachings has made the place fit for living by other ethnic groups and tribes in Nigeria. The 1991 census puts its population at about 25,000 people. The projected population figure of the Local Government as at year 2004 is 36,960 that is, at 3% Growth Rate.

OCCUPATION

     fedayo Local government has a landmass of approximately 200 Square Kilometers. The land of the area is very fertile and good for agricultural activities and this perhaps is the reason why the people of the area are predominantly farmers. Farming in the Local Government Area does not exclude civil servants especially the indigenes, who have large expanse of farmlands. A large percentage of secondary school students are not left out in the farming business as a way of subsistence and funding of their educational pursuits.

POLITICALLY

   Local Government is delineated into ten (10) wards, three (3) in oke – Ila, three (3) in the less-city and four (4) in Ora-Igbomina.
